I'm trying to get to the gym 3 times a week. It used to be that I would drag myself to the gym for vain reasons...to lose weight, fit into a smaller size, etc. Now though, I find that I have completely different motivations. When I'm on the treadmill running and really, really want to quit, I remind myself WHY I'm choosing to use some free time (that could be used to scrapbook or read) to exercise.
Number one, for my daughters. I want them to learn at an early age that exercise is so good for your body and your overall health. I want it to be something that they understand and that it just becomes a normal part of their everyday life. I want them both to choose to be healthy, and I strongly believe that by role modeling healthy choices, it goes a long way toward my children being healthy.
Number two, for my health. When my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer in the spring and my dad with leukemia in late winter, I did a lot of research to see how I could prevent myself from being diagnosed with both illnesses! And one thing I read over and over again is how important exercise is in disease prevention. So as I'm on the treadmill and my legs are aching and I'm t-i-r-e-d, I remind myself that 30 minutes on a treadmill is nothing compared to chemotherapy. Motivation, indeed.

So true. It's really important to me that my girls learn that exercise is simply part of daily life. I can't wait til Lydia's old enough for the running stroller.
I'm glad it keeps you motivated!
so true, girl! so proud of you for keeping up with it!
